The main benefits obtained are: - The very good
medical communication provided by the application between physicians, even if
they are not familiarised to work together.
- The trials clearly proved that
such tools give the possibility to physicians to enter into deep professional
communication in one minute including the "first contact".
- The quality of
the sound and of the video. This made possible group to group discussion, impossible
on IP video or very difficult on H261 quality.
With a preparation of
the session (using multimedia mail messages and preparing the session in advance),
the relevant information is displayed firstly in order to reduce the time needed
for the introduction of the medical case. The average duration of a patient case
discussion was 10.6 minutes, with a standard deviation of 6 minutes.
So expertise
can be shared between medical centers without complex and expensive documents.
It implies that medical imaging networks are generalised in radiology departments,
which will be the situation in two to five years. |
